Being old (young?) enough to remember the scare that was generated when AIDS first came out, it's astounding that it's now being used as a possible treatment for cancer.

Got the contract
by LouBelle innow i just have to sign on the dotted line and drop it off and i shall once again be in the permanent job field.
i won't be earning a huge amount by any means but it is enough to cover my bills and to save a little bit.
this does give me that relief of finances coming in, of course i'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for better opportunities, but that being said i shall embrace this new opportunity with open arms and eagerness.. it's been a hellofa tough year people - hellofa tough.

Your mailbox flag -- up or down -- and why?
by FatFreek 2005 inhere in the states most folks i know put the flag up to alert the carrier that there's mail to pick up.. interestingly, i watched a british film, early 1940's, where the carrier placed a letter in the box and raised the flag, that to alert the resident that he had mail.. the more i thought about that the more the british way makes sense (is that how it's done today in great britain?)..

In Australia, no flags are on the letter box.
These are examples of a standard letter box:
If you want to post a letter, you take it to a post box:

Something I realised while still a Witness:
If they're not paying your bills then they have absolutely no business sticking their nose into your business and/or telling you what to do!
You're an adult, surely! Then stand up to them and keeping saying "no".

Preppers and prepping.... thoughts?
by EntirelyPossible inwhat do you guys think of preppers?
i have been watching doomsday preppers on natgeo (it's just a trainwreck, i can't stop watching) and while those guys are a joke, i think have a few weeks worth of supplies and water on had is a good idea (tornadoes, hurricane, freak snow/ice storm, etc.).
however, prepping years worth of food, 5000 rounds of ammo per gun, building a fortified bunker.... what for?

In the WW2 many mothers had prepared to kill their kids if the Japanese landed in Australia including.. mine. Most homes had a .22 rifle.
First time I've heard of that, and my parents were teenagers during WW2 here in Australia.
So when the Japs started bombing Darwin and Sydney, were any kids murdered, Zeb?

The stations's CEO came out today to say that they tried 5 times to talk to the nurses involved and get their permission to air the conversation, but they had no response.
For those in Australia, the 2 DJs are being interviewed on Today Tonight and A Current Affair tonight.

The nurse shouldn't have given out the information in the first place. While this isn't something worth killing yourself over she made a serious mistake.
